The second phase of the business continuity framework is the BIA.
The BIA is the main key to Business Continuity, providing critical information upon which all other BCM project activities are based.
The BIA is designed to identify and quantify the potential impacts upon the organisation if an unplanned disruption interrupts normal business operations. The BIA will also provide information on existing business continuity exposures
The criteria used to define business function/process as critical are based on the understanding of each business function/process operational and financial impacts. This shall be determined through data gathering and analysis (via questionnaires and workshops).
The resulting information will allow the determination of:
- Recovery Time Objective (RTO);
- Recovery Point Objective (RPO);
- Minimum Acceptable Configuration Requirements (MACR)
- Resources to Processes Dependencies (RPD);
